| Our Border Collies all have wonderful temperaments and Herding
ability. We are determined to produce great working dogs that are a joy
to live with also. Physical soundness and Health are high priority. We
OFA at one year old for a Prelim rating, as well as do 2 year old X-Rays
for the permanent OFA rating. We will only
breed dogs that have Excellent and Good hips. Eyes are CERF tested prior
to each breeding. Our females are only bred once per year and sometimes not that often. We spay them after their last litter. (usually at age 8) Lock-Eye Ladies all whelp inside our home in a loving environment. I can always be found "camping out" next to the whelping box holding the momma's paw during birthing. The majority of births are video taped coming into this world and new owners love seeing their little ones being born! E-Mail us to see past birthing clips. Once the puppies are born, they are assisted out of the sack and cleaned off with a towel. We assure that each puppy has nursed and then remove the dewclaws. If done right at birth, it is less stressful than waiting for 3 days and being taken to the vet. (AND exposing your puppies and dam to the diseases ever present at the Vet's office) When the puppies are 4 weeks old, the real fun begins. Visit our Lock-Eye puppy page for a full description of our training process. |

Lock-Eye VipLock-Eye Vip is one of our most aggressive cattle dogs. She bites right on the nose and heels low, yet she is under enough control to work sheep well. Vip has produced some very talented cattle dogs. Lock-Eye Ivy is one of her daughters. Lock-Eye Cash is a Vip son. They are both excellent cattle dogs, hitting both ends. Ask for a copy of our "CowDog Demo Video," where she is "Turning Heads and Raising Heel"! Vip will be bred one more time in March of 2003. Her last litter was on April 23rd, 2002, sired by Lock-Eye Lazer. We will repeat this breeding. Reservations are now being taken. After her last litter in 2003, she will be spayed and retired from breeding. She will then work as a Goose Control dog. This is truly the life of luxury for any dog. Vip loves to swim and is amazingly gentle with ducks and geese. On the golf courses and resorts were the goose dogs work, there is always an abundance of folks wanting to pet the dogs! She is an extremely friendly girl and when Vip wags, her whole body wags! Vip's hips are OFA Excellent and her eyes are CERF'd normal yearly.

Lock-Eye SmoochSmooch is a beautiful red and white Border Collie. She works both cattle and sheep and has lots of Style and power. She is an honest worker and truly believes everyone comes to our farm just to visit her! Smooch is about as "people oriented" as a dog can be. She lives to please and is a joy to train. Smooch has the unique quality of being able to "Talk."
It is an unmistakable sound that brings a smile to your face every time
you hear it. Many of her puppies "Talk" also! Smooch was bought in Sept,2000 from a local farmer. She was a little over one year old. The main reason I purchased her was because there was a gentleman coming from England to "Play Dogs" with us for two weeks. Keith Brooks from Northumberland.
He requested that since he was not able to bring his own dogs, I acquire a "Project" for him to work on while he was here.( A dog that was not bonded with me already). I happened to get a call from a man who had one to sell because she was "working herself to death". Smooch had been allowed to run free for the year before I bought her. Usually this ruins a dog for training. Smooch was the exception. While she had never been formally trained to gather livestock, she worked the cattle alone every day since she "turned on". The key word is "Worked". She didn't chase, nor molest them. They had put enough obedience and common-sense discipline on her that she welcomed a human to step in and teach her specific tasks. What a biddable girl! She is honest & stylish, but has bite when she needs it! Smooch is OFA Good and CERF'D Normal Smooch will be bred to Lock-Eye Lazer in Nov,2002. This will be an all red and white, intense litter of puppies! Visit our Reference page to contact past puppy buyers.

Lock-Eye DinahDinah is Bronze's littermate. She has an extremely sweet personality. She is great with kids, even allowing them to handle her tiny baby puppies. All she wanted was her share of the attention! Dinah was bred to Colt and had 10 puppies on April 21st, 2002. There were 6 girls and 4 boys. They are all doing great in their new homes. If you would like to visit with some of the Dinah puppy owners, join the Lock-Eye Border Collie Chat group and ask about their puppies,or visit our Refrence page.
While Dinah was giving birth, Karen and Kate Moureaux from Contact Point Agility center in California were visiting. They stayed to watch and filmed the births for me. Dinah wasn't concerned with all the filming and talking. She seemed to enjoy the company. Dinah is very intense on stock and will bite when needed. She is OFA GOOD and CERF'd normal. We are taking reservations now for her next litter in Summer of 2003. Who will be her suitor for this litter? Click here for our Puppy Contracts. |

Lock-Eye IvyLock-Eye Ivy has returned to Lock-Eye Border Collies! She was sold as a trained dog when she was a year and a half old to work on a cow/calf operation. She was a great asset to the rancher, who has now retired. Ivy is a Vip daughter and is sired by Gary Ericson's Scot dog. Scot was a tough cattle dog who often gathered fresh, wild cattle. Ivy has Vip's ability to bite the nose of a cow and she heels low also. She makes working cattle look effortless, always bringing 'em in without a hassle. One bite usually turns the herd for good in the desired direction. She has a never quit working attitude. She can almost work her mother in the ground. (Lock-Eye Vip) She is short haired and traditionally marked, with a Pet me,Pet me! type personality. Ivy will be bred to Lock-Eye Lazer in Nov,2002. She produces red and white, red tri and bi black puppies. There will be both long and short haired puppies. We are now taking reservations for this litter. Ivy and Lazer are both OFA Good and CERF'd normal. Ivy's last litter was born on Nov 28th,2001. Most of these are in cattle-working homes, and a few are in Agility homes. Stacy Peardot-Goudy in La Porte,Co has Lock-Eye Wyn Win Situation which was from this litter. Lock-Eye Bronze is the sire. (Lazer's dad) You can see Wyn at Stacy's web site. |

Lock-Eye Kit and her Sister, Clover were our first Border Collies. They were bought to train and show in obedience, as well as herding. I was working at Siloam Springs Veterinary Clinic in Arkansas. (I worked there for 7 years) One of our clients, (Dennis Chamberlain) came in and said he had bought a trained Border Collie to gather his beef cattle. She was pregnant and wanted me to pass the word. I said that I thought it would be fun to train a dog to work cattle, so I bought two! The first Border Collie I saw work was their Mother, Rose. She was a very honest worker. Never using excessive force, but enough to get the job done. She worked everything from Chickens to Bulls. Later, Rose was purchased by Dwain Thompson, of Huntsville, AR. Dwain showed her in many trials and did well. (Dwain won the first National Cattle Dog Finals in Alabama, 2001 with his dog Tee) I decided to show Clover in obedience and train Kit for herding. I had Clover completely trained for her CD title and was ready to start taking her to shows. Since the breed wasn't AKC registered yet, you had to get an ILP (indefinite listing privilege) to show them and they also have to be spayed. To do that you had to send in their registration papers from the registry they were with and two photos. Front and side views. The application came back saying she did not look like a Border Collie to be given an ILP! Oh, was I mad!!! They obviously didn't judge a Border Collie on it's working ability at all! Not a Border Collie, MY FOOT! I wanted to send AKC a video of her on stock! She and Kit were both 100 % natural! Anyway, I trained them both on livestock and never looked back! Clover was sold to a local Angus rancher where she was their right arm until they retired from the cattle business. She now helps them chase the geese off the lawn at their new lake home. Sadly, Kit died two years ago, but she lives on in her many offspring. Lock-Eye Pearl is one of them, as well as Jack King's Casey. Jack and Casey placed 2nd in the 2001 National Cattle Dog Nursery Finals! Casey was originally called "Cash-Eye" because of a blue eye like her Sire, Lock-Eye Cash. I am grateful that Kit came into my life. She was
a solid foundation for generations of great cattle dogs!
